Deputy facilitates employee scheduling
Having a nearby application that makes use of our technology makes it all the more valuable. In particular, the team's knowledge opportunities for Vice customers are fantastic. I consider the time and effort invested learning and mastering Deputy to be worthwhile, even if I am already an advanced user.
Pros
Other scheduling tools I've tried were either impractical or too difficult to learn and utilize. Deputy is the best scheduling software I have used, and I have tried a few. It's easy to get the hang of, navigate, and succeed in.
Cons
Turns off the door/window alarm. This quality is unnecessary, and the numerous safety precautions might be frustrating. Alter the range of colors available inside the span. The app's request and route customization features are user-friendly.

Not Recommended for Remote Workforces
To be clear, Deputy is a lower-cost platform. We also selected this platform in a time crunch, so some of the things we've found most challenging would likely have been discovered in a due diligence process had we had more time. That can't be blamed on Deputy. However, the support (or lack thereof) and the constant glitches that no one can explain are just exhausting and I would absolutely pay more for a system that performed this basic functionality more reliably.
Pros
Deputy is a low-cost platform that provides a good amount of customization. As a multi-state employer, it was important for us to have timecard attestations that were customizable to ensure we were covering our bases for all State laws, and Deputy was one of the few platforms that we found that enabled us to customize that feature. There are a good amount of built-in features like State pay rules that help ensure compliance, as well.
Cons
Deputy is built for operations with physical locations - retail, food service, etc. We learned quickly that our remote workforce across multiple timezones created the need for multiple workarounds - for example, in order to schedule our support team in their local timezone, we had to create "areas" like Support EST, Support PST and so on. This makes creating a schedule a nightmare. The customer support from Deputy is honestly some of the worst I've ever encountered. Everything is chat/email based, you can't get anyone on the phone and their entire support function is offshored, so I find myself having to explain things repeatedly, and often end up without a resolution.
Reasons for Switching to Deputy
The ability to create customized timesheet attestation statements which were a requirement for our Legal & Compliance team.- Industry: Health, Wellness & Fitness

Useful for SMES like restaurants, Agencies, seller shops, Gyms etc.
Deputy is very useful specially for business who has a casual employees, contractors or under agencies with shift to shift pay basis. You can manage your people wisely from the term itself, deputy rostering management.
Pros
Deputy links timesheets to payroll system. Also, you can keep track with lates, absences, time offs, and most importantly the timesheet approvals before finalising shifts for payroll.
Cons
I didn’t like the view of the scheduling if you have multiple locations or areas. But it’s very minimal. The prior view before the latest update was better in my own perspective. Also, I didn’t like the leave options available to manually input the times starts and ends, instead of just inputting the total hours of the day.

The best shift coordinator, guarantees many solutions to ensure the continuity of workflow
Pros
Deputy, with its user-friendly interface, simplifies shift scheduling. I loved how it ensures that all team members adhere to the approved schedule, each member can easily view the active schedule and follow up on any urgent updates. Deputy ensures that workflow continues smoothly when rescheduling, allowing us to avoid tasks being affected, and find alternative solutions to achieve the required compliance.
Cons
Some crashes occur that prevent the full active schedule from being displayed at once, it may require reloading the page more than once to resolve the issue.
