Who it is for OwlCAD suits makers, engineers, product designers and teachers who have outgrown Tinkercad but don't want the install, licence and learning curve of Fusion 360 or Onshape. It is built for functional parts: brackets, enclosures, mounts, gears, storage and replacement parts that have to fit and print the first time. What makes it different - Designs stay editable. Every dimension you set is kept, so changing a wall from 2 mm to 3 mm rebuilds the model instead of starting over. - It is designed around 3D printing. Clearance presets size press, slip and loose fits correctly for FDM printers. A print check flags overhangs, thin walls and non-watertight geometry before you export, and parts can be hollowed, laid flat and fitted to your printer's build volume. - Parts nobody wants to model by hand are built in. 33 parametric generators cover gears and gear trains, threads and fasteners, enclosures, Gridfinity storage, bearings, hinges, springs and more, each set with plain parameters. - Real modelling tools when you need them: constrained sketches, per-edge fillets and chamfers, patterns, sweep and loft, and assemblies with mates, a bill of materials and an exploded view. - Scripting is optional. OwlCAD reads and runs OpenSCAD scripts, with a live script editor and customizer controls. Files and compatibility Imports STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP and OpenSCAD. Exports STL, 3MF, OBJ, GLB, STEP, DXF and SVG, so models move straight into a slicer, a laser cutter or another CAD tool.
