> HOL Guard is a local-first runtime control layer for AI coding agents. Built by HOL and released as Apache-2.0 open-source software, it helps developers and technical teams govern what autonomous coding agents can do on a machine before risky actions execute.

Ideal users are individual developers and engineering teams adopting agents such as Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI, or GitHub Copilot CLI who need a practical local policy boundary — not a cloud MCP gateway.

HOL Guard helps gate shell commands, secret and file reads, MCP server changes, and plugin or skill installs using local approvals and receipts.

Honest limits: it is not a complete prompt-injection preventer, not a secrets manager, not an SCA or dependency scanner replacement, and Cursor or artifact trust is not full pre-exec on every MCP tool call. Documentation and support are available on the HOL Guard product site.
