It takes direct control of the equipment responsible for most of a commercial building's energy use, chiller plants and air-side systems, and tunes them continuously instead of producing reports for someone else to act on.

Automation on top of what you already have
There is no BMS replacement. AltoTech integrates over open protocols, BACnet/IP
for AHUs, chillers and controllers, Modbus TCP and RTU for meters, VFDs and PLCs, MQTT for fan coil units and sensors, and LoRaWAN for wireless devices.

Edge-first control:
Machine learning models trained on each building's own operating data run on
gateways installed at the site. Optimization continues locally through network interruptions, which matters in buildings where cooling cannot pause.

Water-side and air-side, together:
Water-side optimization handles chiller sequencing, staging and loading for
plant-level efficiency. Air-side optimization handles AHU and FCU setpoints, supply air temperature and scheduling against live occupancy and comfort conditions. Because one system controls both, plant and terminal equipment stop working against each other.

What building teams get:
Facility engineers work from a single interface covering live equipment status, indoor environmental conditions, fault alerts, historical trends and remote control. Problems that used to require a technician on the floor are frequently resolved from the dashboard. Portfolio operators get a multi-property view that makes every site comparable, so a lean central team can run many buildings.

Reporting that traces back to the equipment:
Energy and carbon reporting is generated from metered operational data rather
than assembled by hand, with exports at portfolio, site and equipment level for
certification and corporate disclosure workflows.
