# Memorion

Canonical: https://www.softwareadvice.co.uk/software/561055/Memorion

> Memorion was built for one specific person: the owner of an independent funeral home in Germany who is on call at three in the morning, meets the family at eight, and still has to get the invoice, the death registration and the memorial card out the same week. Typically a family business with one to fifteen staff, often running on ring binders, Word templates that someone customised years ago, a shared calendar and an accounting program that never talked to any of it.

If that sounds familiar, the problem is rarely a lack of software. It is that nothing shares data. The same name gets typed into the intake form, the letter to the registry office, the cost estimate, the invoice and the memorial card. Every retype is a chance to get a date of birth wrong on a document a family keeps for the rest of their lives.

Memorion holds that data once. You record the deceased, the civil-status details, the next of kin and the burial arrangements during intake, and from then on the system fills in authority letters, deregistrations, cost estimates, invoices, order-of-service booklets and the online memorial page. Everything a case touches stays with the case: documents, appointments, tasks, e-mails, print jobs and the final invoice.

What makes the daily difference, in the words of the people testing it: the stationery editor, because memorial cards and obituaries no longer wait on an outside print shop and can be changed at eleven at night when the family calls with one more name for the list. The family portal, because relatives can look up the arrangement, approve a quote and upload a photo instead of calling the office four times. The on-call view, because you can see at a glance who is available this weekend and where two funerals would collide. And the hybrid mail dispatch, which prints, franks and posts a letter without anyone driving to the post office.

The accounting side is built for German requirements rather than adapted to them: invoices that satisfy section 14 of the German VAT Act, gap-free numbering the way the GoBD rules expect, electronic invoicing in the XRechnung and ZUGFeRD formats, and an export your tax advisor can read directly into DATEV.

Getting started does not mean a week of typing. An import assistant brings cases and contacts over from your previous system, an onboarding wizard sets up your letterhead, price list and staff, and because Memorion runs in the browser there is nothing to install, update or back up yourself. It works on the office desktop, on a tablet at the family's kitchen table, and on a phone during a night call out.

Support is deliberately short-circuited. A help chat sits inside the application, answers questions about the modules directly, and turns anything it cannot answer into a ticket that reaches the developer rather than a queue. A written manual and a documentation section covering every module are included, and feature requests from working funeral homes go straight into the roadmap. Funeral homes joining early do so as pilot partners, with a permanently reduced price in exchange for telling us what is missing.

One thing to be clear about before you book a demo: Memorion is made for the German market. The interface, the documents it produces, the manual and the support are in German, and the legal and tax logic follows German rules. If you run a funeral home in Germany, that is exactly the point. If you do not, this is not the right product for you, and we would rather say so here than in the demo.

## About the vendor

- **Company**: Altovate GmbH

## Commercial Context

- **Starting Price**: €169.00
- **Pricing model**: Flat Rate (Free Trial)
- **Pricing Details**: Memorion is sold as a flat-rate subscription per funeral home, not per case, not per funeral. Whether you handle eight arrangements a month or eighty, the price stays the same, so a busy month never turns into a surprise on the invoice. All prices are net, excluding German VAT.

Three plans, priced by how many people need access:

Solo — 199 EUR per month for a single user. For the owner-operator who does everything personally.

Buero (Office) — 399 EUR per month for up to three users. The typical two-to-three-person funeral home where the owner, an assistant and a part-time colleague all work in the system.

Institut — 599 EUR per month for unlimited users. For larger homes and multi-location businesses where staff numbers change and per-seat counting becomes a nuisance.

Paying annually reduces the monthly rate to 169, 339 and 499 EUR respectively, which saves 360, 720 or 1,200 EUR over a year, roughly fifteen percent.

Every plan includes the full core of the product: case management with civil-status records, contacts, appointments and calendar, tasks, documents and archive, authority letters and deregistrations, cost estimates, invoicing with electronic invoice formats and the DATEV export, dunning, supplier and article catalogues with stock levels, pre-need contracts, the family portal, two-factor authentication and the security and data-protection features. Nothing on that list is held back for a higher tier.

Optional add-ons, bookable and cancellable monthly, cover the areas not every funeral home needs:

Working time and absence tracking — from 35 EUR per month for up to ten employees, plus 4.50 EUR for each additional employee. Clock-in and clock-out, leave, sick days and the absence calendar.

Time-tracking terminal — 29 EUR per month for one location, plus 15 EUR per additional location. Turns a tablet into a punch clock with QR-code scanning and no login. Requires the working time add-on.

On-call scheduling — from 35 EUR per month for up to ten employees, plus 3.00 EUR for each additional employee. Planning, supplementary pay rules and an export for your payroll office. Requires the working time add-on.

Online memorial pages — 39 EUR per month, unlimited pages, with condolence book, service details and donation appeal.

Stationery Pro — 39 EUR per month, unlimited documents. Obituaries, thank-you cards, memorial cards and order-of-service booklets with AI-drafted text from the case data, motif library, photo editor, AI enhancement for old or low-resolution photographs and 300 dpi print-ready PDF export.

A funeral home on the Office plan that also wants working time tracking and stationery therefore lands at around 473 EUR per month, not at a figure that only becomes clear after a sales call.

What you do not pay for: there is no setup fee. Self-service setup is free, and an onboarding wizard walks you through letterhead, price list and staff. Support, updates, hosting, backups and new features are included in the subscription. A guided premium onboarding including migration of your existing data from a previous system is available as a one-off option if you would rather not do the import yourself.

Trial and commitment: you can test Memorion free for 30 days, without a credit card. Subscriptions run monthly and can be cancelled monthly. Your data stays exportable at any time, and after a cancellation it is deleted permanently after 30 days rather than held hostage.

One option worth asking about: funeral homes that join while the product is still growing can do so as pilot partners. Pilot partners test free during the pilot phase and, in exchange for honest feedback on what is missing, keep a permanent fifteen percent discount on their chosen plan afterwards, including on annual billing, for as long as the contract runs without interruption. If you are open to telling a developer what your daily work really needs, this is the cheapest way into the product and the fastest way to get your requirements built.

If you are unsure which plan fits, the deciding question is not how many funerals you conduct but how many people need their own login. Start on the plan that matches your headcount today, add modules when you actually need them, and change either at the end of any month.
