> PlanIt EPOS is for the independent trade merchant — the electrical wholesaler, plumbing and heating merchant, builders merchant or general trade counter with one to a handful of branches — who wants one system that runs the whole business without an enterprise price tag or a multi-year contract.
Who it suits: owner-run merchants where the counter is busy, most sales are to trade accounts, and the person who knows the old system is also the person serving customers. New counter staff pick it up on their first morning.
What it does: runs the till (scan or search, retail and trade pricing, split payments, deposits and account sales with the credit limit checked at the point of sale), takes customer orders into a diary with deliveries and van runs, manages trade accounts with statements and automatic chasing, keeps live stock by location and bin, handles purchasing and goods received, and gives you a dashboard, VAT summary and Xero export. AI reads supplier price sheets and delivery notes so nobody retypes them.
What makes it different: the till keeps trading when the internet drops and syncs when it returns; every module is included at one price; and it runs in a browser on the PCs, Macs and tablets you already own, with standard barcode scanners and receipt printers.
Support and onboarding: configuration, product and customer import and staff training are part of the subscription, not a project. Support comes from people who know the trade, by email and through the in-app support centre, with a knowledge base and video walkthroughs.
Pricing: £149 a month with one till and unlimited users, £59 a month per extra till, UK hosting, backups and updates included. 14-day free trial with no card. Three-month minimum from your first payment, then monthly rolling, and your data exports if you ever leave.

> **Pros**: The roll-cut optimiser is the main draw — it lays out the cuts and tells you the actual waste percentage before you order. Quotes go out as a tidy PDF in minutes rather than an evening's work.

> **Cons**: It's a young product and some areas are still being built out. Reporting is fairly basic at the moment, and we'd like more control over quote templates.
Why we chose it: It's built for flooring specifically rather than being a generic trade quoting app, so the calculations understand stairs, rolls and pattern repeat.
