Five generation modes are unlocked from the start, with no tiering or upsell between them. Text to Video builds a clip from a written prompt alone. Image to Video animates a still photograph. First and Last Frame takes a starting image and an ending image and generates the movement between them, a mode Veo offers that most competing tools do not. Reference Images holds a person, object or style consistent across separate generations, which is what a production needs when a character has to look the same shot after shot; this mode runs at 16:9 only. Extend a Clip appends further footage to a clip already generated, so sequences can run past the length of any single generation.
Clips are four, six or eight seconds, at 720p, 1080p or 4K, in 16:9 landscape or 9:16 portrait, each with natively synchronized audio generated in the same pass rather than added afterward. The 1080p and 4K resolutions are available on eight second clips only, and where a chosen combination is not one Veo will accept, the application falls back to 720p rather than sending a request that would be refused and billed. Advanced settings add a negative prompt, for stating what should be kept out of frame, and a seed for reproducible results. Options a mode cannot serve are greyed out rather than hidden, so the full capability set stays visible along with the reason a given setting is unavailable. Large photographs are resized in the browser before anything is transmitted, and a failed generation is never charged.
The software runs on the user's own Google API key. The key is stored in the browser's localStorage and is never sent to external servers. Video requests route through a serverless function to Google's Veo API, and generated videos are saved locally via URL, so no footage is held in external storage. Data can be removed at any time by clearing the browser's localStorage.
Generation is billed by Google directly to the user's account rather than through any intermediary, with no subscription to the application, no markup, and no per-clip limits. Two service tiers are available: a Fast tier and a Standard tier that costs more and produces better output. A clip runs from $0.60 for four seconds on Fast at 720p to $4.80 for eight seconds on Standard at 4K. An itemized estimate is shown before each generation and the measured cost after it, so spending is visible at the moment of commitment rather than at the end of a billing period. A 4K clip can take up to seven minutes to return, and the application waits up to twenty.
A Google AI Pro subscription at $19.99 a month or better, an API key from Google AI Studio, and a Google Cloud account with billing enabled at Tier 1 or better are all required, because Veo will not run on Google's free tier.
