Powerful Marketing Automation. A bit complex. Great Customer Service.
Generally very good. I like the product. It is one of the few good marketing automation platforms with a decent CRM.
Pros
Great customer service and marketing automation capability. Also, it integrates with almost anything.
Cons
I was using an industry-specific version of the platform, which was not a good fit for my needs. Learning how to get the most out of the marketing automation was rather complex.
Reasons for Choosing ActiveCampaign
I found an industry-specific version of Active Campaign. But that version was not a good fit for my needs. I switched back to Hubspot and may move to odoo.Switched From

Great for smaller businesses, not so great for enterprise
The app is almost too easy and too simple, which isn't what a more enterprise company would want. It's more of a small to medium business tool. The quality of support also isn't fully there when something goes wrong.
Pros
Super easy to use. Modern UI and very active support team. Clean documentation. Their development team were also quite supportive in helping us build an integration with them.
Cons
I find their automation and customization functionality is limiting. Because of that, we use another tool like Keap to send most of our emails. I don't think our developers find it as friendly to use as other tools available. Also, although they were supportive in helping us build an integration, once we had a problem - that's where the assistance stopped. If something goes wrong, they don't know or don't have the resources to fix it.

A powerful tool but time to move on
I used ActiveCampaign extensively for a long time and heavily relied on its advanced automations, dual taxonomy system, and versatile API. It was a powerful tool that offered great flexibility and helped manage complex workflows effectively.
However, over time, the pricing became steep, and the platform felt slower and more complicated to navigate. While it served me well for years, I eventually felt a sense of relief after switching to a simpler, more efficient solution. ActiveCampaign is undoubtedly powerful, but for me, its complexity and cost eventually outweighed its benefits.
Pros
ActiveCampaign stands out for its robust complexity and flexibility, making it ideal for those who want more than just a basic email marketing tool. The advanced automations are incredibly powerful, allowing for highly personalized and efficient workflows.
The two taxonomies—tags and lists—provide excellent organizational capabilities, making it easy to manage contacts at scale. Additionally, the API is well-documented and versatile, offering seamless integration with other tools and platforms.
Cons
While ActiveCampaign offers powerful features, its pricing and the limits of each plan have significantly increased over time, making it harder to justify for smaller businesses or those on a budget. Additionally, the system has become slow and overly complex, which can be frustrating for users who want efficiency.
There are also occasional issues with reliability—some features don’t always work as expected. While this might not be unique to ActiveCampaign, it’s still a drawback for such a premium-priced service. The combination of higher costs and reduced performance can make it less appealing for some users.

The platform's visual design and user interface aren't quite as polished or modern as competitors like HubSpot.
