## Reviews

### "Gradescope: A powerful platform for grading assignments" — 5.0/5

> **Jean-Pierre** | *6 January 2026* | Higher Education | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: I like the consistency of grading through shared rubrics. Gradescope can handle different paper formats, including handwritten.
>
> **Cons**: It can overwhelm the novice during the initial setup. e.g., converting paper assignments. I wish it could be ideal for all subjects.
>
> I find it to be a powerful platform and convenient for grading assignments for small and large classes, and it can be integrated with major LMSs.

### "Gradescope: A Great Tool for Grading MCQ Exams" — 5.0/5

> **Wassim** | *17 July 2023* | Computer Networking | Recommendation rating: 9.0/10
>
> **Pros**: I rely heavily on Gradescope for grading MCQ questions that are done in class using an MCQ Bubblesheet. Gradescope makes the process extremely simple by integrating seamlessly with Blackboard to get the students roster and link it automatically to the respective student bubble sheet. I only feed Gradescope the scanned MCQ bubble sheets and it will automatically link it to the students using the Blackboard roster. Moreover, Gradescope supports versions: I firstly supply the correct answers for each version and Gradescope will grade based on the version specified in the MCQ bubble sheet. I usually mark the version for students to avoid any confusion by leaving this step to them. A very nice feature in Gradescope is it will indicate any confusion in the students answers to specific questions and asks the graders to confirm the intended choice by showing a snapshot of the student answers. This is very useful for the fairness of grading. Lastly a great feature that I find really useful is the fact that Gradescope after grading the exam it can post the grades directly into a particular column in the Blackboard grade center which alleviates the need for the instructor to enter the grades manually or to upload it from an excel sheet into Blackboard. This reduces the possibility of data entry errors.
>
> **Cons**: I really believe that the following aspect could be improved for a better user experience:1. It would be great if the answer sheets of the different exam versions can be entered by scanning a hard copy bubble sheet containing the correct answers. Currently, the correct answers have to be entered question-by-question manually into the Gradescope GUI.2. It would be great to copy the answer sheets from one Gradescope course to the other. Sometimes I need to have the same exam for multiple sections and what I can only do is to duplicate the course to have the same answer sheets.
>
> Excellent experience when you administer MCQ exams. It's a major time saver and the results of grading are so accurate.

### "It's impossible to be a Gradescope poweruser" — 4.0/5

> **Arthur** | *2 February 2024* | Research | Recommendation rating: 6.0/10
>
> **Pros**: What absolutely makes Gradescope usable at all are the keyboard shortcuts and the ability to change rubrics and make that apply to all students. I'm glad that the features it has exist and I think they're pretty indispensable\! Like just this week I discovered I could reset deadlines for individual students, which really helped me out\!
>
> **Cons**: The worst part about Gradescope is it's really hard to move through grading quickly. While it's nice that there are keyboard shortcuts that let you select different items to grade, if you have a complex rubric it becomes very tedious because sections are collapsed by default, requiring you to use your mouse to open them. It would make much more sense if you could use tab to go through each of the rubric items. Also, while the UI is nice, I wish it were more compressed so I could see all rubric items at once while grading.

### "A graduating student's review of Gradescope" — 5.0/5

> **Jacob** | *18 May 2022* | E-Learning | Recommendation rating: 8.0/10
>
> **Pros**: The best thing about Gradescope is the ability to easily assign different problems in homework and tests to specific pages that are submitted. This allows for more efficient grading, especially for large classes or in depth assignments, handwritten or completed with computer software.
>
> **Cons**: A con is that assignments generally must be submitted as either an image or a pdf, which can limit submissions from various computer software to prints and screenshots instead of the original work itself. An example would be drawings, coding files, or excel sheets.
>
> Overall, my experience with Gradescope has been greatly positive and I can not recall having any major problems when using the software in the last four years.

### "Best for teachers" — 4.0/5

> **Apekshya** | *13 May 2022* | E-Learning | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: User interface is very friendly and easy to explore. It makes grading process easier for both students and teachers
>
> **Cons**: I like almost everything about this software. No complaints\!
>
> It was a great experience working in gradescope. I would recommend this software to everyone in academia.
