Celonis was founded in 2011 by Alexander Rinke, Bastian Nominacher and Martin Klenk after discovering Professor Wil van der Aalst’s academic theory of process mining. The trio productized the concept and quickly secured customers in German broadcasting company Bayerische Rundfunk and industrial giant Siemens. And Prof. van der Aalst would go on to become Chief Scientist at Celonis.
 
Celonis pioneered process mining, and subsequently launched execution management, to give organizations a view into how their business is running at the process level. Processes are the foundation for how the world, and every business, moves and works: there is nothing more horizontal than a process. Celonis offers advanced technology in data execution, combining real-time process data, the intelligence to make sense of that data, and the execution capacity to take immediate, decisive action - thereby ushering in the era of real-time data execution. 
 
Celonis’ EMS makes data work for its customers by identifying inefficiencies and weaving interconnected processes together. Celonis raised the first-ever $1 billion Series D round in 2021, valued at over $11 billion, and has over 2000 customers. The company is headquartered in Munich, Germany and New York City, USA with 16 offices worldwide and over 2000 employees.
