Thunderbird, the GO-TO Lightweight mailing client
We started using Thunderbird as an alternative for our outlook clients, performing even better during the days, and making it a go-to software for our new installations.
Pros
I think the most impactful thing about Thunderbird is the community that uses the software, making it evolve constantly and performing better. It is awesomely easy to set up and makes yourself feel really at ease, with a simple UI and plugin enhancements that make it even better.
Cons
I think Cloud support could be more extensive, to make Thunderbird evolve to the next level, the team should really make it an objective inside the application.

Best free email client like Outlook
Been using as a replacement to the Outlook for over a decade now since I moved to Mozilla and never looked back.
All the features but leaner, more stable & faster.
Pros
Familiar UI to Outlook after using for so many years.
It's also fast and stable.
Cons
The toolbar buttons could be lower to the actual inbox for less scrolling to action.

The free email client
I use Thunderbird on PCs that have not Office installed and I need an email client instead of the web one.
I don't like very much the menu, especially the settings section. The interface looks a bit older, compared to other email clients.
Anyway Thunderbird is a good program, but if you use a 365 email account I recommend Outlook instead.
Pros
Thunderbird is free and allows to manage multiple accounts email, so if you want to save money and use a regularly updated program without problems about licenses/demo/trial etc., you are doing the right choice.
There is a lot of documentation on internet, so in case of troubles (or simply if you need to do further settings) you will easily find your answer.
After you have configured at least one email account, you will see your email folders on the left and all your emails on the right.
Creating and organizing your emails and folders is easy and intuitive.
Cons
The settings interface is a bit confusing; in the future 365 email accounts may have issues to works as Thunderbird does not belong to Microsoft.

Thunderbird for Email
I like the ability to use and even build plug ins and add ons to enhance the experience.
Pros
I like that it is open source and works on many different platforms.
Cons
Sometimes it will take a long time to synchronize using IMAP if the folders get big.

Not worth the time
It was pretty much a complete disappointment. With the calendar and the mail and then it using 50% CPU.
Pros
We didn't not like it. We started looking for alternatives within a few weeks
Cons
It kept deleting our calendar. And since we are a hotel our calendar is very important. It also just stopped fetching mail.

Thunderbird is My Only Consideration with Mail Programs
I've used Thunderbird over Outlook and other Mail apps for years. Occasionally I try Outlook again and I even wrote my own email program but always go back to TB..
Pros
It works with Hotmail and Gmail accounts which not a lot of email programs do. There is lots of community support and many add-ons for all kind of things.
Cons
I always when trying to select the top email accidentally click the column header and re-order the emails which is annoying, would be nice if you could lock it.

A robust all standard email management software for connoisseurs
A software that is still actual and works well. Multi option and multi accounts management. Maybe too multi when you have a lot of accounts to manage.
Pros
Total control on your email in every possible configuration
Cons
as much as this is also its strength, it suffers from a traditional ux. Although Thunderbird looks neither old, nor is it sloppy in its graphic details, if you could open Netscape 3 mail, you would still recognize the origins of this software today.

Best for multiple emails
Pros
Haven't found a better alternative to manage dozens of emails in one spot. Differentiates each of them in a much better way than others.
Cons
No native integration with google calendar, have to use a plugin, but still wish the calendar had a better overview.

The free alternative to Outlook
Pros
Of course, I like that it is open-source and free of costs. And I like Thunderbird Filelink. The solution for sending larger files per cloud link instead of sending attachments.
Cons
No support per email or phone. Only a knowledge base and a forum.

Thunderbird for Mac OS Provides an Affordable Email Solution
I am generally satisfied with Thunderbird and have been using it now for 4-5 years. It provides an affordable solution that is relatively easy to use. It doesn't always integrate well with Microsoft SSO email, but that is mostly due to the inflexibility of the IT decision-makers on the other end.
Pros
Having a free email client is essential for our small startup.
Cons
Event notifications popup and often do not close when I click dismiss or prompt me to update the event. This mostly occurs if I am responding to the prompt after the event as opposed to before.

Finally found my Windows Email Client!
I was delighted to start using this app when a coworker recommended it to me because I'd been trying to find something that was not so spartan like a lot of Windows programs and apps are. This is a little different but with that Windows goodie, which is FEATURES! This client comes loaded with features, you'll need to spend an hour or so finding out all the good things Thunderbird brings to the table. You will definitely find something you need or those 'very nice to have' additions also. Coming from a Mac I was blown away at the richness of things you can actually have in an Email client. Thunderbird has given me A LOT to look forward to and I have adopted it in my business as well. Honestly, this is not a biased opinion, this is a real opinion. It's the best free email client out there, hands down! I truly recommend it!
Pros
If I could define in two words all the pros of this software, it's FEATURE RICH!- a lot of features tech savvy folks will bathe in;- efficient client;- nice interface;- calendar built in (very well thought out);- tabs for better viewing;- mail and calendar pane in one single view;- great extensions for the app
Cons
The only con I found with this fantastic app is that although you can change its interface via extensions, a more refined user interface could do this app some good! But it's not bad at all.RAM memory is another con that I'd point out. In my usage, it's pretty heavy and my PC took a little hit there.

Easy, free and classic
I use it daily from my main PC.
Pros
Free open software with classic mail usage. I'm using it since the Netscape days and recommend it to customers.
Cons
When you setup a new account, the username doesn't add the @ and the domain automatically. Also, Betterbird have some options that they could add to it. The calendar and all the addons can't compete with Google or other alternatives.

Excellent & Free Email Application
Our overall experience has been very positive, if you are looking for a trustworthy and free solution that can basically cater to all intermediate needs, then Mozilla Thunderbird is definitely the solution of choice.
Pros
Setting up new email accounts with various providers is a seamlessly simple task. Quick configurations work very well and there are more advanced settings for more complicated setups. As a free to use program it has all the features and functionality that you would require. Adding Google Calendars and setting up meetings can be integrated and performed within seconds.
Cons
Some more advanced features such as automated reply suggestions as well as further security configurations can enhance the capabilities of the program. Other than that, it is a great product.

Been There, done that
Pros
I used thunderbird for a long time, a long ago. I was not pleased ; of course, you could read and send emails; does that job..
Cons
I believe Thunderbird lacks a bit when compared to other softwares for the same purpose ; But yet again, of course it does the basics , but it has room for so much improvement. One thing i particullarly hated was the fact that the program was crashing on me from time to time.

good alternative email client if you do not want to use Microsoft Outlook both paid or free
Fast, no costs. Good alternative if you want to use a mail client instead of the more intuitive webmail portals.
Pros
its pretty fast in performance.
The layout/visual is easy to understand since it is basic email layout (pretty similar as gmail)
Cons
Since it is open source you are bound to support from other users.
The opening of tabs is something i personally do not like. Maybe others users are liking it more than i do.
Don't like the visual. It has a rather childish menu bar layout in black and white.

Simply the best eMail App
Pros
It is very simple and easy to use free email software. I was unable to install Windows Mail on a Windows 8 laptop so I opted for Thunderbird since then I have never ever urged or thought about going back to Outlook or Mail.
Everything is so simple in thunderbird, there are a bunch of addons available. My fav addon Quickfolder which makes thunderbird more visualized and mails easily to find.
Cons
1. It's not available on iPhone.
2. PST import was bit tricky

Very good email client
It allowed me to keep managing my email the way I used to when I was forced to upgrade the operating system of one of my PCs and the old email client wouldn't work any more.
Pros
Thunderbird is very versatile. It allows me to check some mailboxes via IMAP, but I can also download the messages from others via POP3 and manage them locally. This is what I needed when forced to leave Live Mail behind.
Cons
It took really a lot of work to import my whole message archive from the previous client, and most of it is done manually, including create all folders and make sure my messages ended into the right one.
