> uniFLOW is a modular multifunction printer (MFP) management tool that is suitable for organizations of all sizes needing to manage printing, scanning, and copying. The key features of the solution include full reporting and cost accounting, job routing, and secure mobile printing.


Additionally, uniFLOW offers universal printer drivers, device authentication, print budgets and output cost tracking to streamline print management operations. That or reboot every time this happens.  Also ,when setting up printers, the location keeps wiping out, so you must re-select the location constantly. printers sometimes do not show up for users, after a Uniflow update.

Wer hat gedacht, dass es eine gute Idee ist, dass ein Benutzer neben einem Drucker sitzt, einen Druckauftrag abschickt, allerdings nicht zum Drucker sondern in die Cloud, welcher dann von den Druckern wieder geholt werden muss um drucken zu können? Hier ist irgendwas schief gelaufen anstatt auf digitale souveränität zu setzen, haben wir oauth zwang (meist Microsoft) und alle Druckaufträge müssen unser Haus verlassen, wenn man nicht die deutlich teurere hybridlösung kaufen möchte.

2. Der Client. Alle Windows Clients müssen den Uniflow client installiert haben, nicht nur einen Treiber. Ist ok aber sitzt halt immer als Prozess offen, auch wenn man nichts druckt und verbrennt CPU cycles. Wenn man eine AD Domäne hat, wird der UniFlow Client so eingestellt, dass er anhand des eingeloggten Benutzernamen authentifiziert. Recht smart, wenn man in einem Haus ausschließlich AD verwendet. Aber unpassend für Schulen mit BIYOD, weil auf einmal drucken alle Benutzer mit dem selben Vornamen (den sie als Windows User verwenden) auf den gleichen Uniflow User (der erste, der sich eingeloggt hat). Support meint man könne ja auch einen zweiten Installer zur Verfügung stellen, der bei der Installation nach einem OAUTH client fragt - aber aufgrund technischer Einschränkungen verliert dieser zweite installer dann die auto-update funktionalität. Und funktioniert hats bei uns auch nie.

3. Her mit allen Benutzerdaten\! Damit man Uniflow verwenden kann, muss man alle seine User Daten in die Uniflow Cloud syncen oder manuell erstellen.

4. Online-zwang. Weil das System alles über die Cloud macht bedeutet das, wenn das Internet mal ausgefallen ist, kann man darüber auch nicht drucken, selbst wenn der Drucker direkt neben einem steht. Hier läuft so viel falsch.

> Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass es Unternehmen gibt, für die so ein System wie Uniflow sinn macht. Aber Schulen sind es meiner Meinung nach definitiv nicht. Du übergibst UniFlow beim Setup nicht nur all deine Benutzerdaten (wenn Schüler inkludiert, dann auch von Minderjährigen), sondern auch jeden einzelnen Druckauftrag, der weiß-gott-wo processed wird und dann wieder zum lokalen Drucker gesendet wird.

Das System scheint intern auch so komplex zu sein, dass der Support über Partnerfirmen teilweise keine schnelle oder akzeptablen Lösungen zu auftretenden Problemen finden kann und auch das Setup hat bei uns mehrere Tage gedauert, weil der Techniker es nicht geschafft hat die Anbindung an unsere MS365 Domäne korrekt einzustellen.

Sync hat auch irgendwann aufgehört zu funktionieren und geht bis heute nicht mehr. Das wird wieder viele Stunden am Telefon mit dem Support über Partnerfirmen bedeuten.

Ich habe der Schule jedenfalls empfohlen, so bald wie möglich aus dem Vertrag auzusteigen und auf andere Systeme umzusteigen.
