It had a solid reputation, was featured packed and met our needs. The product itself was excellent, and the support we received from the previous developers, Pippin’s Plugins, was very good. Over time, since switching hands to iThemes (now SolidWP), the support level has noticably decreased, and now we've got a current serious issue that hasn't been resolved for months. While we understand that resolving technical issues can sometimes be a complex process, the lack of communication on their part is becoming really concerning. We have been patiently awaiting a resolution for months, but it's not reflecting well on my company, or the users of my clients website, who can't access their membership area as their membership expires randomly every now and again. I have been using it for many years. > > **Cons**: I had to start collecting taxes in Washington for digital downloads and subscriptions. Restrict said they had a solution, but the solution does not work properly. Their connector to Avatax does not allow you to take orders outside of Canada and the US, and the taxes are not calculated properly. The company they are connected to, Avalara, is the worse company I have ever worked with. Their customer service is the worst. They have a whole lot of people working in customer service who have no idea what they are talking about and you get the run around constantly. After many years I have had to give up on this app and am switching all my memberships to Easy Digital Downloads with an All Access Pass and recurring payments. EDD has a great tax solution connected to Quaderno that works amazingly. After working with Restrict for 8 months trying to get their tax connector to work, I have had to make the decision to change platforms. Avalara makes you sign a contract for a complete year, which you cannot get out of even if their tax program is calculating the proper tax because they blame it on Restrict. After many hours of wasted time and frustration, I have decided to find a better solution. I would not recommend this product until they have fixed their tax issues. They say that they have a tax solution, but it doesn't work. > > Over the years I have been very satisfied working with Restrict. They are quick to answer your questions and have great customer service. But this is not the solution at this time if you have to collect sales tax or want to do business overseas where you are supposed to collect VAT tax. Their tax program doesn't even allow you to take overseas orders, let alone do VAT tax. There are options that allow for different levels of membership -and discount codes that have been extremely valuable to our audience.
