Satisfied Customer
We leveraged this tool to monitor a complex infrastructure, including EC2 instances, Redis, ElasticSearch, MariaDB, PHP, VueJS-based web applications, Socket connections, and other critical components. It's robust features and capabilities allowed us to gain valuable insights into our system's performance. Using the option to add custom metrics opened new way of monitoring our project.
Pros
Simple onboarding and unified metrics. Easily track both frontend and backend performance in one place, accelerating issue resolution and optimization. There flexible pricing models, including session sampling, make the solution ideal for projects of all sizes.
Cons
While the mobile app is convenient, its functionality is somewhat limited compared to the full desktop version.

First time Datadog users with growing pains
Overall my experience has been good, but I would like better product support for the various use cases my organization has and an easier more competitive billing structure is needed.
Pros
Easy of use and integrations make Datadog very compelling. I am also a big fan of the out of the box dashboards and views that help out teams provide value quickly to the products they support.
Cons
Sometimes that ease of use can be too much of a crutch. I find that creating useful monitors and queries is challenging because I am not allowed access to more advanced features or search criteria I am not aware of.
The cost of using Datadog and the numerous areas of billing has really been a big struggle. Not having a set price for using Datadog, the constant increase with new, on-demand services and understanding all the categories I can be charged for is becoming a huge pain point in my organization
Reasons for Choosing Datadog
Splunk was also getting expensive and we did not like the approach to centralized observability they were bringing to the table.Reasons for Switching to Datadog
The rich set of features and out of the box integrations as well as dashboards and views available we very compelling.- Industry: Biotechnology

Best Single Pane of Glass Monitoring Solution
Overall, I like DataDog a lot. It beats the various disparate monitoring products we were using before.
Pros
APM and single pain of glass. This makes it easy to get host metrics for resource utilization and an easy traceback for exceptions.
Cons
Searching logs is not as intuitive as I would like. Text search doesn't work when logs are sent as JSON. Simple grep would make things easier.
