Scalable and flexible project planning and task management software.

This is software that we use every single day. I also use Trello in a professional capacity. It is easy to get up and running, and easy to get clients onboarded with it as well.

Pros

We love how flexible Trello is. We have separate boards for different projects and even for our internal team management and admin tasks like accounting and HR. There is no "right way" to set up Trello, which means you can mold it to your own needs.

Cons

Over the years, they've included less and less in the free version, but if you're running a business, the pricing is fair and scalable to pay for it.

Alternatives Considered

Basecamp and ClickUp

Reasons for Choosing Trello

Asana seemed like it was more geared toward larger teams and just simply wasn't as intuitive to get in and set it up.

Reasons for Switching to Trello

Basecamp didn't have a freemium model. You get a free trial, then must pay to continue using. Trello lets you use the free version perpetually until you grow into paying for it. ClickUp seemed way to robust and monolithic for our needs. Trello was much simpler to get up and running.

TM & PM Program of All Times: Trello

Pros

Trello streamlines task and project management by automating workflow in real-time.
Time tracking is another added advantage about Trello.
Availability of instant messaging and chat capabilities makes Trello more exceptional compared to alternatives.

Cons

Trello has every feature that I yearn for on a daily basis. There has not been any notable flaw for the past six months.

Best Project Management Software!

It's honestly hard to think of cons; I am extremely satisfied with this software. However, one issue I’ve encountered is the inability to post images solely in the comments—any image posted also gets added to the attachments. For my needs, I want images in comments to remain separate from those in attachments to avoid confusion and disorganization. If users had the option to keep images exclusive to the comment section, this software would be truly perfect.

Pros

If you're not using Trello for task management, you should be. It's the best software out there for this purpose, incredibly easy to learn and master—I got the hang of it in just 5-15 minutes. Trello's ability to create unlimited lists to customize our workplace pipeline is invaluable. I can update my boss on task progress with a couple of clicks, and she instantly gets notified and provides feedback. I constantly use labels and checklists to track smaller details, ensuring we both fully understand the current status of tasks. My co-workers also use it, making it easy to check project statuses without having to ask them directly. This software has truly transformed the way I work, and I can't imagine going back to a time before Trello.

Cons

It's honestly hard to think of cons, I am just extremely satisfied with this software. Although one I can think of is the inability to post images in just the comments, if you post an image, it will be added to the attachments as well. For my use case, I want images in the comments and images I add to the attachments to be separate as it can get a bit unorganized and confusing. If they let users have the option to keep an image exclusive to the comment section then the software would be truly perfect.

Trello For A Small Marketing Agency

We use Trello for project management at a small advertising/marketing ageny.

Pros

The ease of use - the whole process of making cards and boards is very intuitive and user friendly.

Cons

The only thing I didn't like about the software was the lack of creating dependency on other cards - IE if there is a campaign that needs to be set up, but first a graphic designer needs to create a design, there isn't a great way to automate the campaign creation card to be assigned when the designer has completed their card. Trello has checklists, tagging, etc. that can be used to overcome this, but it's not as smooth as it could be.

Trello is your team's organizational sandbox

We use Trello every day to give the company team-wide access to where we are in the pipeline of our projects. Any team member can be added to any board to see, add and edit cards. Trello has great integrations with other platforms we use such as Hubspot and Google suite. You can easily create a new card by sending to a specific email address which streamlines the flow of regular processing. We greatly appreciate the regular updates from the Trello team, they seem to be regularly updating the software and adding benefits to their already solid product.

Pros

Trello is easy to use, easy to customize and visually appealing. Their customer service and regular updates are impressive.

Cons

I personally have no drawback to this software, we have utilized this on our team for years, tried other software for the same systems and keep coming back to Trello.

Great project managing tool for freelancers and teams

I'm a freelance graphic designer, working remotely with clients all over the globe. Trello allows me to keep track of all tasks I'm working on with clients, and keep discussions focussed. I can't imagine managing a complex project over email any more. Also it allows me to cut most meeting calls, as most of things could be discussed directly in Trello.

Pros

It's very flexible, very easy to use. It's possible to set up a Kanban style flow, or any other way you find useful. One of the biggest advantages that it has quite functional free plan. This allows me to invite my clients to the boards and manage complex projects without any financial investment.
It has a mobile app which helps to keep track of tasks when i'm on the go.

Cons

With time I learned that Trello works best when we setup certain rules or scenarios of how tickets are created and managed. So it needs a bit of setting up to do in the beginning, and understanding GTD and Kanban helps. I have to agree on how we would use the board with my clients and team so we don't clutter the boards. But once we get the system working for us it works perfectly.

Alternatives Considered

Basecamp

Reasons for Choosing Trello

I've used Basecamp 2, which is a great tool. Few reasons why I switched to Trello: - Trello has free plan with enough functionality for my needs. - Trello is based on the boards and tickets experience which gives a better overall view of what is happening and feels faster. - Basecamp 2 has a bit more linear experience based on discussions, and sometimes older discussions were getting buried under new discussions.

Switched From

Basecamp

Reasons for Switching to Trello

I was considering switching to Basecamp 3, but it's a bit expensive for my needs and too complicated. I like the light and fast Trello's experience much more. Free plan is a big plus.

Trello Boards good for planning - as good as MS Project

We have used Trello Boards for tracking an annual event for the past 5 years. Each year we can look at the previous year's boards and add and subtract from them to build a new set of boards. This is a good thing for the way we work.

Pros

Ease of use. The user interface is simple for most people to us. Even our most computer challenged people are able to use this product.

Cons

I think each person has unique patterns of working and not all our planners think the same way. Sometimes we set up a board that we think will track what we think is important when all the board creation does is create questions. That is not the fault of Trello. It is just that each person has different ways of using the app.

Alternatives Considered

Reasons for Choosing Trello

The MS Project program was outdated and we could not afford to buy the latest version. Plus, training other team members on how to use MS Project was lengthy and would involve too much time-investment.

Trello is free the way we are using it. To me, Trello is just that good. Thanks, Trello.

An exception agile development management tool

Our experience with Trello comes from managing multiple, enterprise class interface and application design projects using Trello.

Pros

The ability to quickly setup new workspaces, create lanes (lists), tasks and assign them to the appropriate team member makes using Trello a time saver.
You can also customize Boards with different backgrounds, etc to differentiate them from other projects, which is nice.

Being able to list the work needing to be done (backlog), the stages of development or production it will go through (lists / lanes), assign team members to specific tasks and attach images, docs, etc. at the task level creates a highly collaborative and feature rich product from a very simple interface.

Cons

Honestly, there's nothing that I would change at this point. It works flawlessly and efficiently. Our teams love it.

From Chaos to Clarity: How Trello Transformed My Team's Workflows

We were at our wits' end, in complete darkness and ready to jump on anything that looked like it could move us at least one step forward. That was our story before we started using Trello. Chaos and a sense of looming defeat. We had looked at several other options but, the moment we embraced the task-organization abilities of Trello, our darkness-heavy chaos surrendered to a seamless order in managing your projects. We are able to collaborate seamlessly and in real-time and do more. For me personally as the project leader, I have experienced an evolving sense of pride and enthusiasm among my team members. We all act like a team on a winning streak. My team's workdays are filled with clarity, purpose and accomplishments.

Pros

The email-to-board feature is one of the most impactful for us, making it convenient for team members to add tasks to their boards via email, even when not directly accessing the platform. The other impactful feature is the activity log which keeps a record of all changes and actions taken on the boards. This helps provide transparency and accountability as users can review the card history to see the progression of a task over time.Lastly, for us the card voting and polling features facilitate decision-making and prioritization, enabling a collaborative and democratic project management process.Almost forgot to mention the Power-Ups.

Cons

Trello doesn't offer built-in features like Gantt-chart views or timeline management. These are features that are valuable valuable for visualizing project schedules, critical paths, and resource allocation. It also lacks comprehensive resource management features like workload allocation, capacity planning, and resource leveling. It would be lekker (wonderful in Afrikaans) if Trello could integrate with finance and budgeting platforms like QuickBooks for managing project budgets and tracking expenses directly from inside the app.

Great Project Management Cloud Sofware Beset with Issues

Trello is easy to onboard new people and set up organization boards in the Kanban style for keeping track of projects as they progress through a workflow. However, many of the basic features that used to be free have moved behind a paywall that is prohibitively expensive for small teams of less than five people.

We paid for a two-person setup, but random features reserved for paid users would occasionally stop working. One time we could not user stickers on the face of cards. Another, the drag and drop functionality between cards stopped on the browser. Also, the email-to-board functionality is really limited compared to competitors.

Pros

* Easy to onboard new people
* Easy to set up workflow and multiple boards
* Lots of customization if you pay for premium seats
* Automation makes board management less tedious

Cons

* $10 per user price is prohibitively expensive for small teams
* The email to board experience is not as robust as competitors
* Features randomly stop working with no communication

Alternatives Considered

Reasons for Switching to Trello

I ultimately migrated away from Trello to KanbanFlow for my small team's needs. The robust email-to-board management made the switch easier.

More than just virtual sticky notes, a great way to manage To Dos.

I have used Trello for many years for managing projects and To-Dos for IT scrum processes, and I honestly don't know what I would do without it - it really does help keep everything organized and running smoothly.

Pros

We use Trello for managing our software development in a Scrum workflow. We have separate boards for backlog items, current sprint items, and completed items. We utilize the scrum for trello add-on that gives us the ability to add estimates and actual work time spent on each card. This gives us a simple list of items to manage that Trello makes very easy to move around. It is hard to explain exactly how great this makes managing the workflow, but it is all centered around how easy Trello makes it to use their software. You can litterally just click into an item and start typing and then click to drag and drop that item around. The super simple interface that eliminates the need for training on the tool is what is really great about it. Keeping the interface simple and easy to use builds instant adoption from users across the organization. To top it off, the free version of this software is very functional - eventually you will want to purchase for extra features like active directory integration, but it is great that they let you use a very functional feature rich version of the software at no cost for an indefinite amount of time.

Cons

My only complaint, and this is more of a feature request than a complaint is when you have a large number of cards it would be nice to group cards and be able to view or manage cards in a group. Sometimes we have several items that are tied to an epic, and when something changes related to that epic you need to visit and update each card. We keep track of these with careful naming of the cards that includes the epic name, but it would be nice to have a more integrated way of managing these groups of cards.

My favorite, simple and easy to use task management tool on the Internet

The ease of use and layout makes this great for smaller projects, but also holds the platform back from fulfilling the needs of bigger operations. With my experience with Trello, I think it is a must-have tool for freelancers, small companies and new startups.

Pros

Trello is a project management software that allows teams to collaborate on a project. This platform is commonly used by software development teams, small startups, and entrepreneurs who are working together with a team to create a product of sorts. It allows for easy communication, updates on tasks, and the general oversight of a project. Through my experiences of working with the software platform, here are some of the pros and cons I have found to be true of this platform.

Ease of Use - I was shocked to see older professors in a college setting using this platform, but thanks to the simplicity, almost anyone who is semi-tech savvy can easily navigate and figure out the basics of Trello.

Device Accessibility - Typically, when you are on the go, you don't always have time to be working off of your laptop. With Trello, it is easy to manage boards, lists, and cards from a mobile or tablet device.

Notifications - It is easy to stay up to date with any project as users are sent notifications through the mobile and web app platforms.

Layout - The way the task, cards, and list are set up allows for one to quickly understand the status of the project and access details needed in specific areas of the project.

Cons

Limited Storage - In the freemium model, the most each file attachment can be in size is 10 MB. This can be problematic if the team needs to view a PDF, video, or slide deck presentation that you are trying to add to the board. This can easily be resolved by a user posting a link on Trello of a google drive file, but the creation of that google drive file may come as an inconvenience.

Commenting - As progress is made, you may want to edit a comment made previously to avoid confusion among team members. Trello does not allow for editing comments, which can come as a hassle. Instead, you must write a new comment.

User Friendly and customizable Project Management application!

Adding users to the card, creating checklists, adding due date to not only to each card but to each sub-item is very handy. As the due date/time is close, there is a different color for you to easily understand your priority task. I liked that I could add and import checklists, copy cards, assign tasks to relevant users and once they are done, the cardmembers can be notified. You can easily archive cards as work is completed.

Moving and reorganizing card between boards and lists is very handy. You do not need big planning to work with this application, you can start anywhere and enhance/organize it the way you want. That will save you lots of rework!

This application is very convenient to work with contractors, they do not have to be on the organization Trello account, as long as they have a Trello account, you can work with them. You can add them to only cards they have a task assigned.

We also integrated this with Slack and it is very convenient to get a notification on the slack channel.

Pros

The application is designed by keeping Kanban methodology in mind. It is very simple and easy to use. Well designed for any level of technical and project management experience. I love how I can organize lists, cards, and boards. I also like the level of security I can set up for each user and board.

Trello is an inexpensive application. They offer freemium version as well. We used freemium in the beginning and as we grew, we upgraded to the paid version. Overall, I am very impressed with this project management application! You can organize your tasks well and communicate with the team by focusing on your priority and deadline.

Cons

This is by Atlassian software and I understand that JIRA is designed by keeping enterprise in mind, while this is more for small to mid-size businesses. So, it is not very convenient to manage sprints, etc for product development. You cannot use Trello for a large scale projects.

Hello Trello 👋

Pros

Trello is really the best, inexpensive project management tool you could ask for. Edits happen in real- time. Assigning team members and due dates are simple with the Kanban cards and Planyway calendar. In- platform reminders work flawlessly. Teaching project progress is easy for simple projects.

Cons

The one main drawback would be that there are a lot of plugins available to make more features and apps available (calendars, etc. ). This can be good, but sometimes can take you a little off course, since you have to generally leave the main Trello board and experience to access the extension features. It would be fantastic if more of the extension features were just built into the platform itself.

This next part isn't so much a negative, but more of a heads-up as you start getting into complex projects with more moving parts. Unless you upgrade to a heavier duty business plan, tracking milestones for each card is tough. Example: your project has 3 parts. Each part requires 2 people to do 3 tasks each. Without the paid plan, it's tough to track who's assigned to which specific step for which specific due date without creating a separate card for each task. To assign due dates to each, you're now looking at tracking progress across 18 individual cards on the free plan. You can use a checklist, but can't assign due dates to the individual milestones/ tasks unless you're on the free plan.

They have to make money (I fully get and support that!). Just know that as your projects grow in complexity, the amount you have to spend may grow with it. Not always, but sometimes.

With that said, they are still the cheapest, somewhat full-featured project management tool that you can jump right into and begin using.

Amazing tool for better productivity in life - professionally ánd personally

I don't even know where to begin to describe how much of an impact Trello has made on my life and how I use it exactly. But I'll try.

I have multiple businesses that I run and lots of new ideas that occur to me on at least a monthly basis. These ideas have to go somewhere. Before Trello, these ended up in various places, like Samsung Notes. But this was much, much less structured than Trello and not structured enough for me to be able to really process everything and create order. My mind was all over the place, restless.

Over the past year, I've been using Trello more and more actively and my main board (for my agency) has evolved a lot. If you aren't using a task management tool, you should start RIGHT NOW. And Trello will most likely be the best fit. At least it was for me.

That being said, I would not recommend it as a project management tool. Meaning for collaboration with clients and project management for clients, creating structured systems, working with teams,... there are more focused tools for that on the market. Which are not free, but very affordable as well. I'm sure other people would disagree, since Trello does offer most of the featurest that are needed for project management as well, but I personally like more professional tools that are specifically created for that purpose.

So, in conclusion, Trello is without a doubt the best task management tool on the market and one of the best ways to create more structure in your life and get rid of the chaos!

Pros

The fact that the core features for daily task management are available to everyone for free. On top of that, if you do need the more advanced features, these are available at a fairly low cost.

The fact that Trello has made such a big impact in my life, every single day, for both my personal to-do's, things I don't want to forget or remember for later (such as bucket lists), as well as (and primarily) task management for my businesses. I will elaborate further as part of my overall experience with Trello.

The mobile app AND desktop app! This is so handy and one of the reasons why I've been switching all my old Samsung Notes to Trello. The mobile app can be easily installed anywhere, so I always have my with me wherever I go. When I think of something to do, I can write it down quickly, add a new card or just an item etc. It's very quick and easy and plays an essential role in my life.

Cons

The function "ctrl + f" to easily search for words inside a list is not available in the desktop app. This means searching for terms can be less efficient compared to the web app, which means I sometimes have to go through the trouble of opening Trello in my browsing and searching for something there, because it would be harder to do on desktop (I realise this is nit picking).

Furthermore, I would like to be able to either exclude OR include archived cards, so it would be easier and faster to look for the task I want. Now, I end up opening a bunch of archived cards when I don't really need those anymore. This brings me to the final thing I really don't like about Trello and that's that it's not possible to delete a card directly instead of archiving it. This is possible, via other steps, but very inconvenient and time consuming. Why not just give the option to completely delete something? If that were possible, I would actually use the archive function in a productive way. Now it's just a place where everything ends up that I don't need anymore. Not practical.

One of the best task management platforms

Trello has proven to be a versatile and reliable tool for managing team tasks and projects, and it has helped us stay organized and efficient. For instance, we used Trello to manage our product development process, which involved multiple teams working on different aspects of the product. With Trello, they were able to create boards for each team, assign tasks, and track progress, which helped them stay on schedule and meet their deadlines.

Pros

Trello is a fantastic tool for team and task management due to its excellent features and intuitive user interface. One of the most significant advantages of Trello is the ability to create boards and lists, which makes organizing tasks and projects incredibly straightforward. This feature allows teams to track progress and collaborate more efficiently.Another essential feature of Trello is the ability to assign tasks to team members, set due dates, and add comments. This feature allows for clear communication and accountability within the team, ensuring that everyone knows their responsibilities and deadlines.Furthermore, Trello also offers integration with other apps, such as Google Drive and Slack, making it a versatile tool for managing team tasks and projects. Additionally, Trello is available on multiple platforms, including desktop and mobile, allowing for easy access and collaboration on the go.In conclusion, Trello is an excellent product for team and task management due to its user-friendly interface, organization features, communication tools, and integration capabilities.

Cons

However, one disadvantage of Trello is the paywall for individual users who want access to premium features. While the price may not be high for businesses, it can be a barrier for small teams or individual users who want to take full advantage of Trello's capabilities. Nonetheless, for businesses and larger teams, the cost is a minor expense compared to the benefits and efficiency that Trello offers.

Excellent tool for monitoring activities in organizations and individuals

Pros

Feel that it is a tool with the highest added value in user experience that has been used for the management of activities.
I can list all the features that I like about the tool:

** Can customize look & feel without losing the order of the tool
** Earn more features by inviting friends to use trello
** Integrate other applications: drive, mailchimp, calendar, zendesk, calendar, draw.io diagrams, hangouts,
** The moviel application is great, from any device I feel comfortable and with the order of activities
** Add time estimates
** Add everyone involved in the tool on the same board
** Online support
** Guided tours when you do not find an item
** Interaction with the client to improve the tool or add new features
** In my organization we use Zendesk and it has been an excellent experience to guide the team in the management of incidents
** The details in the user experience and user interface makes it easier to use. It is not necessary to have a manual
** Receive information from the blog about the progress and changes of the application.
**Change language

The new trello version allows you to see notifications from the dashboard

Cons

I currently manage software projects and I really use the tool to guide the team in the activities to be developed for each project.
I would add to trello to improve project management:
** Pass the checklist to a gantt
** Allow date to start and end of an activity
** Display a gantt chart with all the activities added. As well as,. all the dates of the activities are displayed on the calendar
** In the same Gantt diagram have labels on the activity where it is detailed: members, labels, colors of the labels, title of the activity
** To be able to configure the frequency with which we want to receive the notification that an activity is about to end.
** That team members can add the percentage of progress on each activity. How is it in the checklist line? Once the percentage is added, the gantt is updated
** Allow adopting project methodologies for agile, static or other
** Consult what type of activities you want to perform on the board, and with that provide specific elements on this subject. The user can also access other elements but the main one will be the selected theme

I recommend this application to colleagues and friends
