Was our companion-tool of choice for many projects
Redmine is a powerful and versatile project management tool. However, its outdated user interface may be a turnoff for some users. We used it because it was highly configurable and could run on our hardware or in totally in Intranet in some sensitive projects. We used it since 2006 or so for many years.
Pros
Redmine is a feature-rich project management tool with everything you need to manage projects of all sizes. It is easy to use with a clean and intuitive interface. It can be integrated with a variety of other tools and self-hosted, giving you more control over your data and security.
Cons
The interface of Redmine always looked dated for every version.

Great ticket management once you heavily customize
Pros
It's open source, so it is easy to customize.
Cons
The UI is ugly, even with the different themes, it's not fun to have to stare at all day for an engineering team.

Redmine has a perception issue - might be good tool, but is not very inviting to the eye
It did not just clicked with us. In retrospect - a tool is not enough if the monkey is not wise to use it.
Pros
Redmine used to be de facto project management software when people knew what RoR is and it has this distinctive look of software that is too stubborn to change for the better or worse of it.
I like that it is Open Source and some of developers are familiar with it, but if you are not using it and choosing your first project management software - look somewhere else. You can self host it, but eventually you will reach its limits and it will be PITA to maintain it.
Cons
It looks dated and philosophy is also a bit dated. Also we were using it wrong, but this is not surprising as it is quite rigid in comparison to other tools (that might be too flexible).

No longer at par with technology
Pros
Redmine was our project management tool for several years. Lightweight and streamlined web app to track everything in the project, wiki and code/document repo included. Using a ready-made distro can make things easier. We now use it as project archive.
Cons
It is quite old as technological stack. It requires high knowledge to upgrade and specially to ensure data migration, we had a hard time upgrading and had to move to another tool, keeping it as an archive.

Redmine is good for issue and bug management, but do not use it for anything else
In our company, it has been in use as the main project management and configuration management tool. The experience is horrible, only useful for very small projects with little or no updates. To supplement some of its lacking features a reporting tool has been used, but the day-to-day use is horrible both for the team and management.
Pros
Simple, straightforward. Good ticket management for bug-fixing or maintenance phases.
Cons
All project management-related aspects are invalid. Gantt tool is a nightmare. The Edition of the existing plan is a nightmare. Resource management is flawed.

Redmine is the perfect portal to have clients and developers working together
Overall I like the product, but I think it may be too small and not robust enough for a larger corporation to use.
Pros
It's ability to have projects that are viewable with permissions. So that both client, PM and developer can work simultaneously to get the job done.
Cons
User interface felt a little dated and was lacking in some features such as real time chat, etc.

Redmine Review
It’s been great. Especially if it’s issue tracking you’re looking for, Redmine is the best software I’ve used so far
Pros
It’s straight forward and doesn’t deviate from its functionality. After setting it up you’ll get used to it easily. Each functionality there is necessary and easy to use as well
Cons
The user interface is a bit bland. A bit of customization needs to be made so it’s looks a bit lively.

Good open source ticketing software
A useful ticketing system as well as a time tracking system for free, as it is open source.
Pros
I used this software in two companies that had it customized to their needs. So the possibility to customize features to fit the company workflow seems to be properly working. We used the time tracking feature to know which part of a project was taking more time than planned. The ticket's features are very useful for teamwork as you can see who worked on what task and when. You can also easily add documents attached to the task, and even write some Wiki for projects that may need it.
Cons
Redmine can be quite complicated to use, for one not used to software like this. For example we used to open parts of the software for clients when we were doing fine tuning on applications and websites, and often the client needed a small training to be able to create ticket and answer questions on the ticket.

Redmine - Mine full of possibilities
My experience with Redmine has been a mixed bag. It is free, so it was a good start to using a fully fledged project management tool and get used to the process. It had adequate tracking features and after a bit of time, our team got used to it. But its archaic UI, confusing UX and a headache during deployment and frequent downtimes can seriously impede your project management process. So, it was a strictly OK experience for me with some pain points that were too impactful to ignore, so we had to make a switch to a better, a paid option.
Pros
Redmine is a project tracking tool with good intentions. I like that it is free, open source and comes with comparable features to its paid counterparts. I love its Git integrations, flexible time tracking options and multiple databases support, even though it may take a bit of tinkering the first time around. But most of all, it is free and that is its biggest plus point. Anyone, with some configuration can get started with it.
Cons
Where do I start? Redmine is free, so we have to keep that in mind too as it allows you to dip your toes into the waters of project management tools. I really dislike the UI and UX. Granted, you have some themes but that doesn't help its case. The UI looks aged and the UX is somewhat terrible. Our team took a lot of time to grasp it and use it properly. And even then, we were making a lots of mistakes and couldn't find the data we wanted quickly. Redmine does have lots of features but most of them are half-baked. And also, according to the deployment team, the deployment was a headache. And we also got frequent downtime too. We were always getting 5xx errors and that seriously hampered our ability to track projects effectively.

excelenete project manager
excellent experience with this software, work on more than 7 projector using it, I recommend it
Pros
*Management of multiple projects
*Customization of projects
*Flexible task tracking system
*Integration in code repositories
*Use of calendar and Gantt chart
Cons
Redmine is a very powerful and mature project manager, despite its "little" development time, it is also inspired by trac, so we are facing a very flexible tool in itself, and quite stable. During its use, it is difficult or easy to obtain shortcomings, always depending on what each user is looking for, so you have to be very clear about what you are looking for in this type of tool.

Manage your projects
I use this tool daily for the control of tasks and hours dedicated to the projects in which I participate. This allows managers to have a global vision of how many resources are spent for a particular project and to make the best decisions for the business.
Pros
You can manage projects easily and efficiently, it allows you to control metrics such as estimated time spent by teams or by individual, you can create tasks and follow up on specific project functionalities and then you can get reports of time spent for each category in the project and this allows to make better informed decisions for the business.
Cons
The user experience design should be improved since sometimes the functionalities of the tool are not intuitive and this causes some time to be wasted.

Great for issue and task tracking
We loved using Redmine, but eventually replaced it with JIRA, JIRA Service Desk, and Confluence. Which helped us better manage help desk and project tracking issues in one system.
Pros
Great price (free) for a good set of project task and time tracking features.
Cons
Lack of integration with help desk systems.

Great open source product
We used this product for issue logging during our game development project. Very easy to use and it does its primary job of bringing together teams very well. Our development company was based off shore so we pretty much had to rely on the tool for communications related to issues and this tool fits the bill perfectly. You get notified whenever there is an update on an issue which is a critical feature. Uploading pertinent files, assigning/unassigning team members to an issue are all easily taken care off. Overall a great product.
Pros
Easy to use, intuitive, very short learning curve.
Cons
User interface can feel a little bit dated.

My take on Redmine
I've used Redmine over the years, although useful it has brought a lot of hassle.
Pros
Redmine gives a lot of space to customization. It can become a useful space to produce and store textual artifact as well.
Cons
Redmine is not as well equipped for Agile development processes. Its markdown syntax is also clunky.

Ticket tracking for small businesses
Pros
Redmine is a great tool as long as your workflow fits its expected flow. We use it for our incoming bug report triage, and it works well. Generally works well.
Cons
If you need to have multiple people collaborate/work on a ticket before it can be completed (eg. Analysis by one person, but development or testing by another), it can be difficult to manage this flow. The transitions between stages has to be done by the users (outside of the flow).
Upgrading the tool can be a little more effort, but that's because it's open-source, and upgrade guides aren't very thorough at times.
