fast and easy payment processing
At this point in the Melio Payments review, I can honestly say that it's worthwhile to try, particularly given that it's free. For freelancers, accountants, and small enterprises, it's a fantastic financial solution. The latter group may automate their bills or payments and handle all of their customers from a single platform.
Pros
A very tidy, straightforward, but effective tool for paying bills and invoices, Payment processing, is quite simple compared to its rivals; it is substantially more productive. This product's flawless integration with our accounting software is why we chose it. Additionally, it eliminates the inconvenience of printing and sending paper checks. Recipient changes of the payment method selected are seamless
Cons
Improved phone customer service is something I would like to see no other recommendations now. Vendors are added with their Melio links, and those vendors currently in QuickBooks should automatically connect. Now, when you do that, a new vendor is formed and is not connected to the one that presently exists in QuickBooks. Wishlist: It would be nice if there were an option to send international wire transfers in different currencies. If it is wholly linked with Wave Invoicing, it would be fantastic and allow a free connected workflow.

Good unless you need a critical payment to be processed immediately
Up until the failed same-day payments, it had been a pretty good way for us to send out payments without having to get checks signed. I am very disappointed with the same day payment issues though.
Pros
It's free and can be used by the owner from his cell phone.
Cons
We had two critical payments that had to go out same day. We paid $30 to have them expedited and they both failed. Customer service could not tell me why and the issue was never resolved.

Took My Client's Money
I WILL NEVER USE MELIO AGAIN! You are like an insurance agency - you only find out how good they are when you file a claim

Melio is great if all you want to do is send out bills and have no issues besides cancelling a check you sent. However, the software started populating vendor names for vendors we NEVER did business with, which ultimately ended up with a check going to the wrong vendor. The vendor called me and notified me of the mistake, but would not cut us a check back or ACH us the money directly. Instead, they said their policy was to send the payment back via the exact same means it was sent to them...BIG MISTAKE! Melio claims they don't have the money and have no way of tracking it (even though I gave them all the info the need to search for it), and on top of that, they REFUSE TO ALLOW ANYONE FROM MELIO TO CALL ME!I have requested multiple times for a manager to call me. They even put in a call request...what happened? They would only respond via email and of course I kept getting representatives. After no less than 25 emails back and forth, I finally got a response from an "accountant manager" who told me there's nothing they can do and they are closing my case. Um, you have over $1200 of my client's money and I have requested multiple times to be called so I can discuss this issue with someone at the company in higher management, and I have flat out been denied! I CONSIDER THIS THEFT!!! Melio has stolen my client's money and won't make it right.You can't call them, and they WON'T CALL YOU! VERY UPSET WITH THIS COMPANY AND THEIR LACK OF FOLLOW THROUGH.

Helpful as can be
Melio is nice to sync all information of A/P and A/R to keep better track of what is paying out and what is coming in. I don't have to write as many checks and mail out invoices. I think with some work on the accounts receivable side this program will be even better. You have to wait sometimes for items to sync. Can't really complain too much when most transactions are free. That's really nice.
Pros
I like how Melio syncs with my QBO. I put in a bill and it shows up in my to pay list of vendors. From there I can schedule it to be paid and its paid on time.
Cons
Much improvement is needed in the accounts receivable. My invoices sometimes don't show up for me to send and it's hard for some of my customers to sign up to make payments to me or they don't want to give out their banking information.

Best way to pay vendors- bar none
Easy to implement, and support is great!
Pros
The full integration with in QuickBooks online makes this an easy choice for streamlined and efficient processes.
Cons
It is difficult to know exactly when a vendor will receive a payment. Should be two days but sometimes has been five days. Especially in the beginning of using the software.

Melio Feedback
I am happy with the product, especially since it is free for the functionality I am using it for. I would be willing to pay a small fee (at least the cost of a stamp) to have live checks be processed and mailed on the same day that the payment is processed.
Pros
I love that I can pay all invoices without printing and mailing checks. It is also great that the program completely integrates with QuickBooks so the bills show up automatically in Melio, and with a few clicks I can pay all of the bills.
Cons
It takes over a week for a live check to be delivered to a vendor, which is a long time.

Melio makes it easy to send payments (and get paid in full)
Program does what we need it to do, and sends money into our bank account. Wish it would be able to name the payments so that our bank account can tie the invoice to the transaction name though.

Melio is a great option for sending and receiving payments
I have been extremely happy with the ability to have payments come directly into my bank account from the customer, and the fees are fair.
Pros
This product integrates very well with Quickbooks Online, and is fairly easy to use once it is set-up. Customer Service is great
Cons
Set-up takes a little bit of computer saavy, but customer service is very helpful. It takes a little bit longer than I would like to get the funds in my bank account after a customer has made the payment when they pay from their bank account.

I love that Melio’s interface is very user friendly, syncs with QBO, I can complete payments to any vendor or contractor with the click of a button, it’s inexpensive, payments are received timely, there are multiple payment options.
Cons
The ACH feature could be quicker is my only suggestion for improvement

Melio Simplifies the Payables Proecess
Melio has streamlined our accounting process internally and with our clients. it has given us the ability to work in remote situations and process payments for clients no matter where we are. The payment status and tracking has been key to making sure vendors receive payments and deposit them.
Pros
Melio is an easy app to setup. It's integration into the accounting software is key. It is easy to use and customer service can help with any issues like Stop payments or reissuing payments which saves time on the payables side. It is a benefit that vendors can receive ACH or Checks all with a click of a button!
Cons
The cost per check can be a con of the product, since we went from using it on its inception it was an inconvenience to have to start paying a fee per payment. however the application is still less expensive than the alternative products. The process time is a bit slow, you have to anticipate about 7 business days before payment is received by a vendor.

Melio Almost Put Me Out of Business
Horrible customer experience when I was hacked last month. It is still not resolved. Someone set themselves up as a vendor and then attempted to pay themselves. The fraudulant contacts are still not out of my account and my account has been frozen for over a month despite claims that it is all cleared up. Foolishly I believed them and attempted to pay my key suppliers again. I came back over the holidays to find that no payments had gone out and almost lost my biggest supplier/vendor. Multiple chats and even a message to one of their executives on LinkedIn (his response illustrated why their customer experience is so poor) have yielded nothing. Despite the headache to set up all my vendors again on another service, that is what I am doing. DON'T USE THIS SERVICE.
Pros
easy to set up and use -- had been reliable until my account was hacked over a month ago. Since then it has been inop.
Cons
unbelievably poor customer support. They have no phone option and are limited on chat. They will promise you a quick email response, but then it never happens.

Melio saved us in a crunch and we've stayed for years!
It can be hard to find a trustworthy site to send money but we always felt safe with Melio and they have great support to help at any time. Their rules and timing for sending money are simple so once you read those, everything is straightforward and you know exactly when your money will arrive / vice versa.
Pros
We needed to make a payment fast and were having some issues with our bank which required an in person appointment. Finding Melio saved the day and we were able to process the payment quickly, safely, and very conveniently. The cost to use a credit card is the standard 2.9% fee which is invaluable when you want to leverage credit but are in a space where many companies only accept wire transfers.
Cons
I had a payment or two rejected before I knew that you could only select the "I have already received the goods" for my industry but other than that, I had a perfect experience with Melio.

Fantastic Product
My overall experience with Melio has been a positive one. We have multiple locations and the approval process on each invoice being processed has been seamless.
Pros
The ease of set up and implemenation on this software is outstanding. The immediate synch with Quickbooks has been a time saver.
Cons
This software was free when we started using and now is charging per transacation. I am not a fan as part of our attraction to this software was no fee.

I use with QBO, but it's better on it's own.
I would pay a monthly fee for telephone support.
Pros
I use Melio payments primarily to pay 1099 Independent Contractors through Quickbooks Online. It took me a while to figure out I could go outside QBO directly to Melio and set up direct deposits in seconds rather than hours in QBO. Literally, that much difference!Melio is free unless you send an expedited payment, so it's a great deal - and better than bill.com which I also use...
Cons
Melio used to have outstanding phone support (still grateful to [sensitive content hidden] for al her help), but about a year ago, cut all that outl. Now you have to either go through email or chat and hope for the best. It's scary to trust you bank accounts to a company that doesn't even have a phone number.

FAILED PAYMENTS NO RESPONSE from SUPPORT TEAM/NOT RECEIVING FUNDS BACK
Pros
This is an easy feature included with our accounting software. It's a great feature unless you actually need support which is where it becomes a nightmare.
Cons
Since the [SENSITIVE CONTENT], we have been promised a return of funds for failed payments to a vendor. As of the [SENSITIVE CONTENT], no funds have been received. In addition, I emailed 6 (SIX) executives twice imploring their assistance and no one has yet to respond. We have filed a complaint with the BBB as well since they have technically withheld funds since November.
I would highly recommend to stay away from this service until they can improve their customer support team and process.

Melio = Incomparable
Before discovering Melio, I tried dozens of other products and found every single one of them lacking in some way. Either they were too expensive for what they offered or they didn't offer key features we needed. We didn't even need a lot! Just needed to be able to pay vendors and track payments. Direct deposit was a bonus! Melio provided everything and for the unbelievable cost of $0.
Pros
Vendor payments, direct deposit, and account reports and the super low price.
Cons
I wasn't able to make payments to my social media manager in Jamaica. That is the only thing I've been unable to do.

Simplify Accounts Payable
Melio has simplified our accounts payable process. We have sent less than 20 checks during the last 2 years that we have been using Melio, down from hundreds of checks written and mailed in the years before. Simple to use, with some additional features that are sometimes needed, including "fast" ACH.
Pros
Melio is simple to use, fast to set up, and has allowed us to stop sending 90% of the checks we used to send. We have found that most of our vendors and contractors prefer electronic payments instead of paper checks.
Cons
Does not integrate with Quickbooks Desktop software.

Complance team and Account Manager non-resposive
We need to be able to hold someone and Melio accountable when they make a mistake, when a transaction is blocked we have no way to track down the individual who blocked the transaction, determine why and resolve the issue. the lack of transparence, and responsiveness is forcing me to seek alternative platforns even though I have been happy with [SENSITIVE CONTENT], my account rep. He seem to have no authority, or visibility into other departments.

The workflow and interface are idea. If the the staff supporting the product were at the level of the software this would be a wining offering

The compliance team blocked two payments for maintance on properites the trust manages. We provided FEIN, notarised trust documents, 2021 form 1041 tax returns, copies on invoices from vendors for service on the showerhead and HVAC and all I have heard is silence. My trustee and attorney are furious and my accountant is dissapointed and researching alternatives. The property manager and I have repeatedly called the support number as well as making use if the on-line support group.I have reentered the reciepts as my melio account rep sugggested but when I go to schedule payment it goes to [SENSITIVE CONTENT] blocked so I assume this account is flagges/banned. We are not violating any term of service and are engaged in management of 2 owned properties inherited from my family into a irrevocable Form 11041 spendthrift trust with its own bank account, FEIN, attorney, accountant and trustee and board

Easy to Use, Tougher to Resolve Issues
Pros
It's a very simple and straightforward way to automate payments (and recurring payments) to vendors, with good payment tracking capability.
Cons
If something goes wrong with a payment, good luck sorting it out. Once a had a payment bounce back from the recipient, even though I had paid them several times without issue before. Melio customer service gave me multiple different answers as to why that might be. After allegedly "fixing" it, they had me resubmit the payment, only to have it bounce back again - only this time the money got hung up in Melio's system and I had to file a special request to get it back, which took about a week. I just ended up paying the vendor manually myself.Currently I am going back and forth with Melio over a different issue, an inexplicable claim that my tax ID number is associated with two separate accounts. They only divulge information about this in pieces, so it has been left to me to figure out what is going on. Now they want me to email them my SSN so they can confirm -- I don't think so! Of course, in the meantime, I keep getting automated emails from Melio saying "there is still a problem that you haven't resolved." Long story short, when the program works it works great, but what a s**tshow when it doesn't.

Good for Small Volume Payment Processing
Overall, Melio has provided a great solution for our business to be able to easily send ACH payments to our vendors. This holds the highest value in their product for us. However, time to deploy new features is often far overdue, and leave the platform feeling lacking most of the time.
Pros
Easy setup and deployment, connection with external accounting system began easily.
Cons
Does not provide a great solution for medium-sized operations that need to batch out large quantities of payments or sorting and balancing this data.

Great for small businesses
Pros
Melio makes invoice processing quick and efficient - I can upload an invoice and it'll automatically populate the information, or I can manually input an invoice and link it to an existing vendor. The free ACH option is great for small businesses and it's super helpful that Melio tells you when the money will be debited and when it will arrive so you can communicate dates to vendors. It also makes it easy to save payment details & information from vendors.
Cons
Wish it could scan more than just PDF invoices - sometimes we receive word docs & excel files.
