Great Software and greater support
fantastic, Our engagement with our community and accuracy of information is significantly better than our old Dynamics system which required very expensive and constant customisations as it wasn't fit for purpose for an alumni organisation.
Pros
The overall SaaS solution is helpful in tht all new features automatically show up without any delay or work on our side. Donation and now membership management are the two most critical aspects of what we use Toucan for. Our communications strategy is also well enabled by toucan. Their support is second to none. Always responsive, helpful and ready to support Occasionally a design expert comes to us to show how they could help make things look even better.
Cons
Toucan could have more payment integration to enable less costly payment methods like direct debit or bank transfers. Being able to mass update fields and custom fields would help remove administrative burdern. In general they are able to take on feedback and look to build into the platform what we need.

Toucan Tech Database, Website, Comms function and so much more!
The team at Toucan Tech did everything they could to support our site build. I was very keen to move quicker than perhaps they normally would, but they supported and backed me every step of the way. The support portal is incredibly helpful and I have found the support helpdesk to very responsive on the whole.
I have previously used Raiser's Edge, and this database is so much easier to use and understand - I was able to do most of the front facing site alone, and then use the included in person training session to drill down into specific elements.
I very much appreciated having one single person looking after our account and knowing that I could email them at any point if I needed clarification, and it was never a problem if it was something trivial or something I had already been told. Any tech issues were escalated quickly.
I'm looking forward to using the full functionality of Toucan Tech as the weeks and months go by and the developments they bring.
Pros
Toucan Tech is an intuitive system to use with an easy interface. The reason I chose to go with TT was because of the multi functionality - comms, payments, website, database all in one. It really is a one stop shop.
Cons
As with any platform of this nature, there are restrictions on things like images, you need to make sure they are edited correctly before uploading for example - once you get used to it, you just know that they have to be edited first.

Needs fulltime use, otherwise very frustrating to use occasionally
I use it very seldom , but find it frustrating to obtain the results I require. Help information is on a separate Web page and the search on that is not comprehensive.

It's comprehensive and obviously has many features that are not relevant to some users

I didn't find it very intuitive and would have found more hints useful when errors occurred, although I know ToucanTech are always looking to improve the system

ToucanTech review
We have been really impressed with the level of customer service - ToucanTech colleagues are always very prompt replying to queries and resolving any issues. They show a genuine interest in the School, even coming to visit as part of our onboarding process. The system is very easy to use and suits small teams like ours, with colleagues needing to wear multiple hats. ToucanTech also do great notebooks!
Pros
The best thing about ToucanTech is having a back end fundraising and alumni CRM linked to a website / portal in the front end. This makes it easy for our community to engage with our School, and it is great for us as a small Development team, as it minimises data entry. It is fantastic to have events, email and donation functions built into the product - this means we are just using one system for all our fundraising and alumni needs. The filtering and reporting functions are very easy to use, and the email sync saves many hours manually uploading emails.
Cons
The Wonde API hasn't quite worked for us in our first year, but we are working together with ToucanTech to resolve this.

ToucanTech is a great product with a user-friendly front-end and back-end interface which is far better than other providers. I enjoy working with the helpful and knowledgeable support and data teams and would recommend Toucantech to anyone looking for a one-stop solution for alumni communications, database management, fundraising and dedicated alumni website portal.
Pros
ToucanTech has made a huge positive difference on the school’s alumni relations, particularly through the well-designed email templates and database. The filters have a great user interface and are easy to use, especially for anyone with little/no database management experience. There is lots of training available via the support website, online training and events and overall, I’d say using Toucantech is fairly intuitive.
Cons
I don’t have any negatives. My role is mostly marketing as well as covering alumni/development within a medium-sized school, so given the limitations on my time I’d say the only downside is knowing that there are so many useful modules and features available but I mostly use the basic functionalities.

Technical support has been excellent and their flexibility and help with website evolution.
Cons
Getting to grips with the Database. This is probably more me than ToucanTech but I find the search filters difficult to use to create bespoke mailing lists.

I'm very pleased with my overall experience and would happily recommend ToucanTech!
Pros
I love that ToucanTech are quick to respond to any queries I might have with everything from day to day matters and more complex situations like our fundraising pathway and event management. They are always encouraging and supportive; exactly what you ask for in customer support, if you ask me.
Cons
The system is incredibly clever and is always being updated so my one draw back, if any, is that there are some functions which require a lot more time to get to grips with and require more attention to detail.

Overall experience as been nothing but positive. ToucanTech is a joy to work with, both in terms of its people and the product itself.
Pros
The friendliness and efficiency of all the ToucanTech team, from the initial sales enquiry and contract negotiation through to the onboarding, data migration, training and support. The whole team have been extremely supportive and patient when at times we were not in a position to make immediate decisions.
Cons
We have found nothing that we dislike in our use of the product to date.

ToucanTech a breath of fresh air
It has been delightful. Sending mass emails has been a life changer and the ability to post meaning full article which our alumni can selectively look at has been useful
Pros
It is a great place to store school memories and communicate with the alumni either in groups or as individuals. I also like the twenty four hour support.

Solihull School Review of ToucanTech
ToucanTech are very supportive and continue to support us. Nothing is too much trouble.
Pros
The look of the system and how easy it is to use and manage. The Events feature is great, it has really helped me plan, organise, track attendance and promote our events. I also like the Advanced Filtering function where you can drill down specific user groups to send mass emails and analyse the data i.e whose reading your emails. The Fundraising section is excellent and direct payments updates the record automatically saving time and resource.
Cons
I do not have any dislikes, we are very pleased with the system. The only one thing I recommend is that you need to keep your data as up to date a possible. You data is only as good as the information you put in.

Pros
The product is easy to use and I like the logic of the search function. The support team is great and it's very helpful to have the tutorial pages.
Cons
Data hosting. This is an issue for overseas users as different countries have different data privacy standards.

A user-friendly and comprehensive solution backed by exceptional customer service
Pros
ToucanTech meets all the needs of our school fundraising, alumni and community engagement programs. It is incredibly intuitive and - because it is purpose-designed for an organisation like ours - pretty much everything just works as it should right from the outset. The support team are extremely responsive and are also proactive in offering help and suggestions. We have barely needed any assistance from our IT team. Useful new functionality is constantly being added, and I'd like to see our school expand use further, for example to manage the whole school website and/or to manage admissions as that module gets finalised.
Cons
Nothing of any note. A couple of minor and inconsequential bugs were quickly sorted.

ToucanTech was competitively priced, purpose-designed for an organisation like ours and offered a comprehensive solution that was all included for the price. Alternative products were going to be much harder to install and implement; were going to work out more expensive, especially when factoring in the fees for optional modules and support. There was a noticeable difference in terms of how well the product worked from the outset - and the likelihood of having requested modifications implemented - compared to products offered by massive organisations where it felt the proposed solution was an unimportant afterthought compared to their main business in commercial and other markets.- Industry: Education Management

Using Toucan Tech to run an Alumni Website and Database
We are very pleased with Toucan Tech, it works for us and is much less complicated than our previous database. The website is easy to maintain and perfect for what we need to communicate with our members.
Pros
I find it easy to use, adding events and news stories is intuitive and can be done with very little training. Accessing the data is also very easy and can be done quickly on a PC or on your phone.
Cons
I think the only thing we would like to add is an Instagram feed to our Home page.

User friendly and great support
It has significantly helped with my workload! Getting our alumni database in order and in one place was the main goal and the whole process in doing this has been great. It is easy to export the data as and when I need it.
Pros
The set up process was pain free, and from this support has been readily available with hints and tips being shared regularly. Overall, the ToucanTech software is easy to navigate and offers a lot of features. We have mostly been using this to maintain our alumni database and to promote and manage our events and news, however there are plans to build up our mentor network, open an online shop and to eventually begin fundraising - the fact that we have a piece of software that can do it all is fantastic.
Cons
I don't have any particular negatives about ToucanTech. The staff there have been completely supportive from the initial contact to today (4 years later!). The software can take a bit of time to discover and there are some steps that you need to remember, but that is no different to any other platform.

Helpful staff, who were not pushy in the process of 'selling' the product. They explained the features, pricing structure and offered various demonstrations but were completely led by me throughout this. This is certainly not the case for a lot of companies! ToucanTech helped us create the amazing school community we wanted.
ToucanTech has been incredibly easy and flexible to work with and they have provided us with excellent support along the way. Their product is already intuitive, however, when we do have questions, they have easily accessible support tools for self-support and a super responsive tech support team.
Pros
Creating our site with ToucanTech has been incredible for our school community and far exceeded our expectations. We started with the goal of having a central place for events, news & information, and a way for parents to network. All of these goals have been met and with better results than anticipated. The Event function, probably our most used, has brought our community together so that our events are more discoverable and inclusive. The number of events, type, and number of participants have all increased. For news and photo/video galleries, our site has lessened our reliance on email and allowed us to share more and have a central place for parents to search for anything they may have missed in newsletters (so much better than searching through emails). We have also expanded our offering of parent interest groups, allowing parents to take the initiative to create and manage groups on their own. This has been really fun and helped to create the “close-knit” community we hoped to build. Another great function has been networking – great for parents, but also great for our high school students looking for guidance about universities and career paths. It feels like the sky is the limit!
Cons
There are a lot of functions the site has to offer that we have not yet fully explored & mastered. Our plan was to start slowly and then expand, but the lure of all of the features and potential positive impact for our community-led us to take on a lot all at once. We are still finding our way with managing content, and I think we will have a better plan in place for our 2nd year. Our first year was amazing, but we just made it up as we went along. Next year we’ll be more organized in our approach.

Intuitive CRM that has transformed our ability to connect with alumni and drive fundraising...
Thanks to Toucan Tech, we've finally been able to collate all membership records in one place (never been done before) which has underpinned an alumni relations campaign. This has also enabled us to run a 'get back in touch' campaign and really re-engage with our members, a critical step as we prepare to secure our future by fundraising.
Pros
Easy design features to result in a professional looking website with no specialist knowledge. The ability to tag records to build up a comprehensive relationship history for each alumni member is great (and saves a great deal of time). We are just starting to the the fundraising module but so far it's been a great experience.
Cons
Importing our database was a huge task but now that is done it's much easier. Understanding how filters work was a little tricky at first but after training and support it's now much simpler and v intuitive.

Great product with wonderful customer service!
I have been extremely happy with the customer service! They answer my questions very quickly and they obviously care about their customers and improving their product. They also do personal trainings before you launch which was extremely helpful to me. I have also been very happy with the product itself and the aesthetics of it. Highly recommend!

I like how easy it is to use on the backend. I'm not a coder or website designer and I'm able to navigate it.

It would be great to be able to customize the look of our members' offline records, but that's not available yet.

It has been an excellent product so far. The only exception is the app which I wish we had waited for as we are promoting half a product. We should not be paying for this.
Pros
I like the user friendly platform. I think every organisation has different needs and TT are first class at customer service. We have not used it to the full, but are trying to engage our users and drive traffic to the platform. The database is excellent for segmenting and creating a pipeline.
Cons
I do realise that I need to learn more on reporting to present to our board. I would like to see families recognised in the database for fundraising as we work with the family unit.

Great customer service, a good tool but with some limitations.
ToucanTech is a good product with lots of potential. The customer and product development teams are really good, they are responsive and will tell us what is possible or not. At least no false expectations!
They really will help to make sure we are using the platform to its best. We realised with using Toucan Tech that the challenges we are sometimes facing are not linked to the platform but the way we interact with our own stakeholder/audience. For example, competing with social media platforms to get them to connect. Overall, we believe that Toucan Tech is a good product and would invite anyone to look at it, but ask questions, check the demo to make sure it will answer your needs.
