Advanced tool for advanced users

Best tool (despite cons) for small business inventory management

Pros

- Lot of features, options, various settings... all together bring opportunity to reflect almost any process you may think of. But if your vision turns to be different from one of system designers, then workarounds are demanded in many cases that seemed to be "common" and you expected them to work "out-of-box". You really need good understanding of the way system works and it is point where good onboarding consulter may help.- Responsive and quick interface (though quick reporting tools and documents lists could be more convenient).- Lot of detailed reports with settings that almost no other ERP can suggest. Cool tool for advanced users familiar with pivot tables.- Responsive and attentive support resolves most of problems

Cons

- Strange limitations in accounting settings and flow (especially when you use QBO and want to use both Dear's and QBO's analytics capabilities at the same time)- Integrations with Amazon and Shopify are cool for capturing "orders" when you are not using automated 3PLs flow. But integrations are not good for capturing invoices and shipments when you are using 3PLs like FBA. Accounting processes for e-commerce are designed in quite a specific way and you really need to understand how it works to get reliable accounting data. Thought this is wide spread problem in world of ERP systems for small businesses.

DON'T move your Software over to Cin7 Core-you will not see the end of price hikes.

Since moving to Cin7 (formerly Dear Inventory), we have faced non-stop price hikes. They keep attributing these increases to "system improvements," but we aren't seeing any benefits from these changes—none of them seem to impact our usage. Why should we be billed for improvements we don’t use? And if they're making enhancements to attract new clients and stay ahead of competitors, why are current customers footing the bill? In our business, we constantly make improvements to our products without charging more, as it drives more sales for us.

To give some context: we started with Dear in October 2021, paying $249 per month. After yet another increase, they now want $669 per month. That's a staggering jump. What’s even more questionable is when I asked them why our base subscription costs significantly more than what’s advertised on their site, I received no reply. Their website lacks transparency on pricing for additional services like B2B and POS, meaning they charge whatever they think they can get away with.

For anyone considering Cin7, I’d recommend exploring alternatives like Zoho. Something is clearly off with the way Cin7 is handling pricing and communication.

Hard to set up

I liked the person who helped us to set up, but he's connection was poor so sometimes, it was hard to follow the conversation. The team don't really know how the app (integrations) works together without a inventory system so it's hard to have specifications about it. I liked the little video I had before, but at one point I wasn't able to use it again. Overall, It was a long process that wasn't really easy to follow step by step. We are live but a lot of thing is still unknown of not clear. We had product that was suppose to be "out of stock" because of past orders, that was "back on stock" so this morning we have to deal with customer. An onboarding journal would have been awesome so we can have a step by step guide and a place to write our thoughts a long the way instead of forgetting it between the meeting. For the cost on the onboarding, it didn't worth it at all

Pros

Once you understand how it works, it makes everything easier.

Cons

The integration is really hard to follow. There's a platform available to follow it, but you don't actually see anything on it or you you do, you don't really understand what you can do or not. I feel like there was no link between each task. I didn't like that the onboarding team do a lot instead of letting you do it so you get more familiar with all the process.

Cin7 Review

Over all its ok. I think the best thing would have been to do was to upgrade OrderHive and leave that inplace. It was a great system that worked well.

Pros

There isnt really anything that I feel sticks out. I think its a little cumbersome and easy to get lost or forget to click on one of the tabs. Too much back and forth.

Cons

Not user frindly. Too much clicking to get where you want to be. Not able to modify sheets.

Has potencial but a very poor customer service and is missing very simple yet important...

We were working with orderhive and had to change to Cin 7.
At first it looked very promising because Cin 7 had some nice new functionalities but but we never imagined we were going to go back on some basic funcionalities we had. We thought the new system would outgrow the one we used, but this didnt happened. The new cin 7 core didnt include very practical and easy funciontalities we used on daily basis.
For example now we are not able to have 2 different stores like we had for our wholesale business and retail .We see the sales alltogether and because of this simple reason there are many things we are not able to do. Then being able to update attributes of products in bulk from the site, having unpickable bins, being able to map shopify to several locations not only one, being able to select what not to push into quikbooks and I could go on.
Some very easy and simple features that made our lifes very easy are not cin 7 core now, so for us it has been a lot of work and hours of implementation and we are not happy with it overall. We will probably change to another system ibn the future, not now because it has been very tiring for the whole team and it has taken a lot of our time.

Pros

The best about Cin 7 core is that it is very easy to receive merchandise at the warehouse.

Cons

The customer service is really bad. If you dont resend the tickets they might never answer, then, when they do answer, they give you a really bad response to close the ticket and want you to get tired of asking. 95% of the important issues do not get solved they tell you they cant help you, when you know there has to be a simple way to solve certain issues or they just answer what ever they want without considering what you asked for in the first place. You waist lots of time in this. They send you tutorials that dont resolve your issues and so on, I can keep on going.

Not a good fit if you need any level of customer service or implementation support

Was initially excited about how the features could assist our inventory implementation process, that excitement turned sour as we got no support and had to figure out how to navigate pitfalls ourselves.

Pros

Cin7 core initially attracted us because of the production module options and comprehensive inventory management features. We had some concerns about the tools being overly complicated for some of our needs but was assured by the sales rep that we would have an implementation specialist and customer support to help us through this process. This ended up not being the case and the sales rep made misleading or untrue statements in order to get us to subscribe and invest time into their system.

Cons

The customer service was nonexistent once we subscribed. We received support just up until the point where we paid for the system.

Using Cin7 Core for Order Management

I had one-on-one help onboarding and troubleshooting from Muskan Israni who was very patient, helpful, and knowledgeable about the software.

Pros

I like that I can integrate my sales channels (Etsy and Shopify - Amazon is an option too, but I opted not to integrate it to save money) and input manual orders in one place to keep track of orders, inventory, shipments, and payments. I used their previous product OrderHive, so it is all fairly intuitive to use, and they provided great onboarding and setup.

Cons

I wish it was more affordable for my small business like OrderHive was

Our onboarding was very informative and taught us a lot about the best ways to use the system as it related back to our business objectives. Himash was extremely patient and very informative. He did a great job!

Pros

The level of detail you can achieve within the system.

Cons

My response would be unfair since we just activated the system today. However, I haven't experienced any particular part of the program that I would take issue with.

Worst experience I've had in the 15 years of using online software.

Cons

It's been 5 months and I am still in the onboarding process. I have asked for a refudn several time only to be ignored. I even wrote to [sensitive content hidden] who never responded.

The worst and most useless support you can get. Terrible Software

If I could leave less than one star I would. We have been using similar software for over 6 years, but Cin7 Core acquired the company and to everyone's surprise decided to stop supporting it and we were forced to move to Cin7 Core , uniting us that it offers the same functionalities as the old system. The onboarding process was OK, but even then, we noticed that Cin7 Core has much less functionality than the previous software we used [sensitive content hidden]The real problems came when we launched the system and started actually using the Cin7 Core.We have several channels through which we sell: our own sites and a marketplace, and all our orders are processed by a 3PL ( fulfilment center)

Pros

Тhere is nothing I like comparing it to the previous software we used

Cons

The worst thing about Cin7 Core is their support. Support is extremely slow and so far has not resolved any of the cases we have written to them about. The open cases so far are:- Cin7 Core does not send our orders to the fulfillment center and therefore the orders are not processed on time.- Cin7 Core does not submit accurate quantities to the marketplace we sell in- Cin7 Core is not properly syncing all the new listings we put on the marketplaceIn general, basic functionalities for which similar software is still used are not implemented, which means that users like us suffer lost benefits in the most important period of the year.

Overall good experience, and good customer service always happy to help.

Pros

Ease of use and intuitivity, as well as youtube guides for most of the products modules. It has been really easy to train new staff onto the platform.

Cons

By being brilliantly simple, it is not allowing for flexibility which is very often needed. It does a very basic job of goods in / invoice / goods out but could benefit of some simple upgrades.

Cons

An Excellent Customer Service Specialist

I would recommend Dear solely based on the help and support I received from a brilliant Customer Support Specialist called [sensitive content hidden]. During a time when my company was suffering some difficulties she went above and beyond to help accommodate the challenges I faced and made me feel listened to and valued. She was brilliant and made me have a positive experience of Dear. Based on my customer experience with her I would recommend Dear to other people.

Pros

The invoicing and sales management is easy to use and it has a good user interface. Customer support responds to emails within 24 hours. Some support specialists send videos which is a great way to understand the system.

Cons

There is a wide discrepancy in the quality of customer service specialists- some are brilliant and some are very unhelpful and do not seem to be empathetic to the customer's problems. Sometimes it is obvious that the person lacks the technical knowledge to support the customer so you just go around in a circle. Maybe the support emails could be flagged in different categories such as 'interface issues', 'data issues' and that way the technical emails can be sent to someone who is an analyst. The training videos are not very helpful as they only give a generic overview that doesn't help when you have your own data uploaded and face problems. Training would be more helpful when you have your own data uploaded into the system and after a week of using Dear book a 30min training session with a support member who could answer the bespoke questions you have related to your business - as the currents videos never helped when I needed help.
